domino motogp grips

There are many different brands and types of grips for motorcycles. In this article, I am going to explain why my personal choice is Domino MotoGP grips for racing purposes.

When it comes to grips, there are certain traits I look for. Those traits are grip texture, overall grip diameter, and density. The texture should allow you to smoothly roll on and off the throttle without catching or slipping on your leather gloves. If the grip is too heavily textured, it can make minor hand position/throttle manipulation more difficult since there is more friction against the leather gloves. A grip texture that’s not aggressive enough can have similar problems with the difference being a slippery contact with gloves. This may seem like exaggerated nuances, however it’s important that you’re not death gripping the bars to keep your hand position where it needs to be. I would rather have an excessive grip texture than not enough especially in wet conditions.

My personal preference for grip diameter is on the smaller side. Admittedly my hands are on the smaller side (medium or large glove size), so that plays a factor in preferring small grip diameters. Another factor for grip diameter is your ability to feel what the bike is doing under braking, acceleration, and turning. Bigger gel grips (the density portion) can be more comfortable for cruising because it absorbs vibrations from the road surface and some suspension issues. For racing purposes, I want to feel what’s going on with the bike for suspension setup and potentially avoiding non-ideal surface imperfections on the race track.

These are the reasons why I prefer the Domino MotoGP grips vs other brands. I highly suggest giving these grips a shot if you’re not satisfied with your current grips.
