Woodcraft footpeg stands review

Footpeg stands are different from rear stands. There is some crossover between the two, but they primarily serve different purposes with equal value for serious trackday riders, DIY mechanics, and racers. In this blog article, I am going to explain my experience with these footpeg stands since owning them.

Footpeg stands essentially support the rear of the motorcycle by the footpegs. Hence the name footpeg stands. Think of these stands as you would jack stands for a regular vehicle. Footpeg stands do not raise the motorcycle up by themselves just like how jack stands require something else to actually lift the vehicle. You might be asking yourself “what is the point of footpeg stands if they don’t lift the bike?” The answer to that question is with a series of follow-up questions, do you service your own rear suspension? Do you have a V4 bike and need access to the rear exhaust headers? Do you change rear shock linkages? Do you need to remove the rear swingarm to adjust its position? These are just examples of the primary reasons you would benefit from having footpeg stands. To do these tasks, the rear swingarm can not be under a load/supporting the bike. If you answered “no” to most of these or all of these previous questions, then footpeg stands would not benefit you. However, feel free to keep reading if you’re a fan of general knowledge or may want to do these tasks in the future.

I am currently using the Woodcraft Technologies footpeg stands to complete multiple projects at once. Those projects are a full exhaust swap, rear shock upgrade, and new brake lines/ABS system delete. The footpeg stands allow me to keep the rear wheel out of the bike, the rear swingarm unloaded, and easier access to remove/install exhaust headers. Progressing through these different projects simultaneously has really worked these footpeg stands. Let’s start with discussing my thoughts on the design of these stands. There are other footpeg stands on the market, but what separates Woodcraft’s stands is how little space they need to function safely. The footprint of the stands are efficient, so they are perfect for standard sized motorcycle lift tables and obviously usable with wider based tables as well. Storing front stands, rear stands, and footpeg stands can start to get overwhelming, but I found the Woodcraft footpeg stands can actually be stored on slatwall panels very tightly together and take up little space.

The next important part I want to discuss is stability. Stands need to be stable. Period. Any wobble, flexing, bending, and etc are all deal breakers. You likely spent a good amount of money on your bike (I know I did); therefore, it’s important to use a stand supporting your 300-400lbs+ bike especially while working on it. To put it bluntly, the original exhaust on the Aprilia RSV4 is a major pain in the a** to deal with. I have beat on the exhaust, wiggled it, and pulled on it to get it out. The Woodcraft footpeg stands didn’t even budge. I was admittedly nervous to put that much input on the stands while on an elevated working table, but they held up no problem. Literally.

The last part of this review is how the stands function. These stands do require fixed footpegs and not ones that can fold. Likely, if you’re a serious rider/racer, you don’t use folding footpegs anyway. However, I wanted to mention it as part of the review. With regards to the functionality of the stands, I don’t have any problems with it. For peace of mind, I would’ve like to see a thicker pin used for the stem, but I am not an engineer so take that with a grain of salt. The stands are easy to get setup and don’t require regular setup unless you’re using them for different bikes with different lifting height adjustments.

Overall, the stands have been awesome to use. The bike has been continuously resting on them for weeks now as getting parts and working on the bike has become a bit of a process. I have full confidence in these stands, and a lot of the work being done could not have been completed without them. I believe these stands are a great addition to your garage/shop and pit setup at the track should service need to be done away from home. The lightweight and small form factor make them easy to transport and worth having with you.

This blog post was written independently, however, I would like to note that as of the time of writing this post I am a sponsored racer for Woodcraft Technologies. My sponsorship does not affect my thoughts and opinions in this post.
